EVA to begin Sydney-Taiwan flights in July

IN BRIEF | Taiwan’s EVA Air will run a series of direct flights from Sydney
to Taipei in July, ahead of what’s tipped to be a full-time return to Sydney.
EVA abandoned Sydney in early 2006 and currently lists Brisbane as its only
Australian port.
There will be five round-trip Taipei-Sydney services on an EVA board Airbus
A330-200, which will be fitted with 24 ‘Premium Laurel Class’ business
class seats with 61 inch pitch, although these are angled ‘sloping sleepers’
rather than fully lie-flat beds.
Flights will depart Sydney on July 3, 6, 10, 13 and 17, with inbound flights
from Taiwan the previous day.
According to TravelToday, “EVA Air is looking to capitalise on the major
school holiday period in Taiwan in July. Plans were being made to operate a
permanent schedule later this year.”
