[美加] 美國價值

昨天從朋友那聽來她在西北大學讀書的朋友的上課經驗
My prof asked a question in class: "What is American Value?"
My American classmate: "American value is that everyone in the world wants to
be like us."
而且這人是認真的，甚至說到有點感動的那種樣子，周遭還不少人附和
然後一個印度學生回說
"American value is individulaism, which people in India call selfishness."
真是一針見血，不過教授就靜靜不理他
感覺美國人的愛國教育似乎做得非常成功(，但國際教育就是另一回事...)
到底有這種與現實脫節的想法的美國人佔了多少? (西北還算是很不錯的大學吧)
針對那教授的問題，要我應該會回說
"Amercian value is that everyone believes the rest of the world needs them,
contrary to what the rest of the world thinks."
瞬間一堆美國白眼射過來
