Fulton and Grove streets)
Rent: $900 (including utilities + PGE, basic cable and internet) Deposit is
negotiable.
Available: by the end of February or March 2012 (I am not in a rush to get
someone to move in).
Description:
The apartment is in a quiet, safe and accessible one-way alley street in Hayes
Valley, on the second floor. It is a cozy 2-bedroom apartment, with a somewhat
spacious dining-room/kitchen, fully equipped (microwave, refrigerator, and gas
stove). The bathroom contains an old-fashion tub and a shower head.
The room for rent is the largest one in the apartment, with 2 large windows
overlooking the street, and a small closet (there is not much more storage
space throughout the apartment). The entire apartment has a (somewhat new)
beige carpet, is already furnished to capacity (there is no room outside this
bedroom to place anything more).
*The room also has a large, potted Fichus tree in it (although I love my plants,
I would be willing to part with it if need be). There is a nice, queen-sized
bed in it that can stay, if the person needs it.
This place has been my home for over 2 years, and I am looking to share it with
a compatible person in a permanent roommate situation (someone able and willing
to offer at least a full year commitment, but preferably more). I realize that
this will be a period of transition and adaptation for both parties involved,
so patience, flexibility, and a sense of humor will be much needed.
About me:
I am 44 y/o gay man, originally from Guatemala, though have been living in the
US since I was 17. I am currently completing a full-time Master's program in
Expressive Arts Therapy at CIIS, and works part-time in various HIV-related
research projects. I am relaxed and generally flexible in my lifestyle, very
much focused on my studies and work, and very punctual with bills and
responsibilities. I am single, but I do not socialize at home (bringing friends
or dates), for I consider my home a refuge, a sanctuary. I love to cook from
time to time and share meals, clean, listen to music (being mindful of neighbors
), do art and other creative projects, read, study/write, watch movies, and spend
time at home. However, I tend to spend much of my time out at school, work or at
other community engagements. I am an open and direct communicator and need
someone who values and offers the same (or at least makes an effort to). I do
not drink, smoke or do drugs, and I do not want that in my life or my home. No
pets are allowed in the building.
About my "roomie":
Ideally he will be a gay (or super gay-friendly) man who shares some of the
traits and preferences I listed above, and a matching communication style
(there is always place to practice and grow in that respect). I was a foreign
student once and love learning about other cultures, ways of being in/seeing
the world, and I believe the space would be ideal for a foreign student who is
new to the city. He must have a steady income, however. I would love to meet
someone professional, responsible, creative, respectful, relaxed, and
adaptable.
There is much more to be said on both sides, I know, so let's talk soon over a
cup of tea and see if we are a good fit for each other, so we can discuss the
minute (but not less important) details later.
