泰國長程亞航(X)將有望於10月成立開航
機隊將會是高容量的 A330-300 (377 seats;12C + 365Y)
初始航點雖說是 日本與韓國;
然而現在台北-曼谷 的票價好像不是那麼的和藹可親,
加上 這幾年 KLM, Thai Asia 陸續退出;
現在雖然補了一家 Transasia; 市場應該還可容納新業者的加入.
Wait and See then (in 2014)

Long-haul budget carrier AirAsia X eyes Thai launch
Published: 19 Mar 2013 at 00.00 Newspaper section: Business
AirAsia X (AAX), the long-haul affiliate of the no-frills AirAsia group, is
spreading its wings to Thailand in a move that will intensify competition and
surprise airlines such as Thai Airways International (THAI).
AirAsia X’s Airbus A330-300 wide-body jets could be operating in Thailand in
October.
AAX has sought Thai authorities' approval for an air operator's certificate
to operate regular flights from Bangkok to South Korea and Japan, highly
competitive routes with strong demand and growth potential.
The airline intends to deploy two Airbus A330-300 wide-body jets, configured
with 377 seats (12 in business and 365 in economy), on those routes starting
in October, industry sources say.
Tassapon Bijleveld, chief executive of Thai AirAsia (TAA), yesterday
confirmed AAX's move to operate flights through Thailand but insisted the
plan was at an exploratory stage.
"It's indeed in our plan, but at this stage it is premature to discuss
details as we are still talking," he said.
If endorsed, AAX's arrival in Thailand would change the market landscape and
spur new rivalry, especially between AAX and THAI, which has over the years
used all its influence to block the entry of the Malaysia-based carrier to
its home turf.
AAX has been eyeing opportunities to enter the Thai market ever since its
2007 inception because of market potential, particularly among leisure
travellers.
Its fares are about 20-30% lower than those charged by full-service airlines,
which is an attractive proposition for budget travellers who do not want to
pay for frills such as meals that are provided by legacy operators.
Its entry to Thailand would consolidate AirAsia group's position in Thailand,
extending its network to cover cities up to 11 hours in flight time from
Bangkok, compared with a maximum range of four hours from the capital offered
by short-haul operators such as TAA, Malaysia AirAsia and Indonesia AirAsia
with their narrow-body A320s.
AAX says its vision is to solidify its position as the global leader in
low-cost, long-haul aviation and create the first global multi-hub low-cost
carrier network along with other AirAsia carriers.
The airline has carried more than 8 million passengers since its inaugural
flight from Kuala Lumpur to Australia's Gold Coast in November 2007.
AAX owns a fleet of nine A330-300s for scheduled services and has two
A340-300s for wet-lease and charter operations flying to 12 destinations
across Asia and the Middle East.
In a recent statement, AAX chief executive Azran Osman-Rani said the airline
will continue to focus on increasing capacity in identified core markets
including Australia, China, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan.
