Master of Traditional Japanese Music. While pursuing classical works, also having interest in contemporary performance with various musicians, dancers and actors. --- ● 山岸直人 Naoto Yamagishi (JP) http://www.naotoyamagishi.com/ 鼓手和打擊樂手，生於日本埼玉縣。直人在他的音樂語言及概念正式被定義前不斷找尋從正式的限制裡解放出來的音樂，透過動態的運動和聲響在不同的地方穿梭，它的節奏、響度以及空間皆從大自然與日常生活中啟發開來。直人自13歲起開始打鼓，他與不同領域的藝術家合作，包括來自日本與海外的音樂家、舞者、詩人、攝影家、書法家、日本花道藝術家、媒體藝術家等。 Drummer and percussionist, born in Saitama, Japan. Naoto is in search of music before its word and concept were formally defined. A music free from formal constraints, travelling between places with flowing motions and sounds initiating from nature and daily life – its rhythms, sonority and space. Naoto started drumming at the age of 13 and studied under Takuya Abe in Japan. He collaborates with various artists regardless of genres – musicians, dancers, poet, photographers, calligraphers, Ikebana the Japanese flower arrangement artist and media artists – from Japan and overseas. His major projects include ‘Shoju-Sennenno-Midori’ (松樹千年翠) with a Japanese calligrapher Setsuhi Shiraishi, an Ikebana flower arrangement artist Oshun Tsukagoshi and Biwa player Rie Fujitaka, ‘En Route’ with a painter Akiko Ueda, and usva with Lauri Hyvärinen & Jone Takamäki(Finland) and more. Listen: https://soundcloud.com/naoto-yamagishi Video: https://vimeo.com/user7663944/videos --- ● 張登堯 Deng-Yao Chang 1984年生於新竹，美國馬里蘭藝術學院藝術創作碩士，2010年回台後持續從事藝術展演、策劃與推廣至今，並成立江山藝改所藝文空間。自幼學習鋼琴與二胡多年，並參與樂團演出，聆聽音樂類型廣泛，從古典傳統到前衛實驗，近年開始嘗試以二胡及嗩吶進行自由即興與噪音演奏。 Born 1984 and based in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Deng-Yao received his Master of Fine Arts degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, MD. He has been constantly working on artistic practice, curatorial practice and art promotion since returning to Taiwan in 2010. He founded the art space “Jiang Shan Yi Gai Suo”. He learned to play piano and erhu for many years when in young ages and participated in a well-known local Chinese orchestra. He enjoys listening to music comprehensively, from classical or traditional music to avant-garde or experimental sounds.
