: 由於是在佛州,有很多移民是來自中南美洲,我發現他們對時間的概念真的不一樣。 I have a funny story about concepts of time. I have worked for a Floridian company. From my experiences, I realized that Americans have interesting usage about time. For example, one of the programmers said he needs to borrow my computer for TWO MINUTES. I said, by two minutes you mean half an hour, right? He paused 3 seconds, and replied, "yes." Another time, my coworker said wait a second, but in fact, I have waited for 3-5 minutes for her.... The worst example is that one day my boss said, could you search this item in the database for me? I said, yes, it will take me 10 minutes to write codes to do that. To my huge surprises, my boss started to yell at me, "NO! I AM NOT GONNA WAIT FOR YOU FOR A WHOLE MORNING!" LOL. Even though Americans' expression about time is funny, they are very time-sensitive. My coworkers will feel very guilty if they are late to work. So make sure whether they said 10AM sharp or not. Sharp means on time. =D -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 68.210.28.90

你的例子應該不是時間概念而是習慣用語的問題

我覺得"wait a second"3-5分鐘都還很合理
