今年十年才一次的人口普查，請記得在 Race 一欄圈選 Other Asian，然後在下面寫上「Taiwanese」，千萬別因為找不到 Taiwanese 這欄又覺得麻煩，就直接圈選 Chinese。這有差嗎？也許有人會問。當然有差啦。如果你是美國政府，在分配資源的時候，你會留一小塊給那個普查結果不存在的族群嗎？如果美國政府以為在美台灣人只有小貓兩三隻，那各級團體將來在歸類台灣為「Taiwan, a province of China」時，還需要客氣嗎？台灣人到時再來抗議，有力道嗎？最重要的是，我明明就是台灣人，拿著台灣的護照，取著台灣的名字，為什麼我偏偏得要在普查的時候用別的「代號」？不需要，不需要。我是台灣人， I am Taiwanese，這是事實，簡單明瞭。就像我們在填寫任何文件的時候一定都是據實以告一樣，寫 US census 時，請大家也誠實地告訴美國政府：I am Taiwanese。 ※ 引述《trapezoid (　飽滿)》之銘言： : to 版上各位版友 :) 關於2010美國全民普查 : http://www.taiwaneseamerican.org/census2010/ (頗可愛的短片~) : Please tell your friends, family, and anyone else you know that is : Taiwanese American to check "Other Asian" in Section 9, and write in : "Taiwanese." : As some of you may already know, the US Census is taking place this year. : The US Census counts everyone residing in the United States -- in all 50 : states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Island Areas-- as : mandated by the US Constitution every ten years.
