南航將於今或明年開航廣州-倫敦航線 China Southern Airlines plans London service Wednesday, April 06, 2011 Debbie Ward China Southern Airlines is seeking permission to launch a service between London and its Guangzhou hub in the next 18 months. It believes its connecting services to Australia will be a big driver for UK traffic. “We know that the kangaroo route to the UK via a hub and to Australia is most profitable,” said branding manager Rocky Zheng. “We have already become the biggest carrier from China to Australia in the last few years. We’ve carried on increasing the frequency and this allows us to capture the international passengers. “Our strategy is to become international network orientated.” The airline, the largest in China, flies double-daily to Sydney, daily to Melbourne and three times a week to Brisbane. It has also just added a thrice-weekly service to Auckland. Zheng said China Southern has ambitions to serve Perth, Adelaide and Cairns and increase its Australia flights from 24 to 58 in the next five years. If the airline, which already has a UK office and is a member of SkyTeam, gains permission to serve London, it anticipates starting with three flights a week with a four-class service. Its Paris and Amsterdam routes increased to a daily service this year.
